Section 3: Listening and Speaking for Non-Native Speakers
Are you interested in improving your English listening and speaking skills from the comfort of your own home? This course primarily focuses on listening comprehension and refining English pronunciation to minimize miscommunication. By analyzing audio/video clips, students will identify salient features of spoken American English, and develop their mastery of them. The course includes instruction on American English stress, rhythm, intonation, and individual vowel and consonant sounds. Using a webcam and recording microphone, students will submit audio/video recordings that will be analyzed and evaluated by the instructor to help each student speak with the utmost clarity.
Note: This course does not require students to be in the Berkeley-area during the course. Students with internet access may enroll and participate in the course wherever suits them.
