Why aren’t online courses available year-round?
Our online courses are part of our Summer English Language Studies program, and are available only during Session D of Summer Sessions.
It is required that you have high-speed Internet access, a webcam, speakers, and a good installed or plug-in microphone. Courses may be using Skype, Zoom, and/or GoToMeeting for real-time assignments. Although these are online courses, students may need to download software and/or attend scheduled meetings online. Your instructor will post all requirements on the course website.
Sections of English-as-a-Second-Language W3 may have final exams. However, these exams will take place entirely online. No on-site meetings are required.
Use your Calnet ID and Passphrase to log in at ucberkeley.instructure.com on or after early July. Then click on the tab for your section. To create a Calnet ID and passphrase, go to the Calnet website and use the PIN on your confirmed course schedule from Summer Sessions.
