Explore how large industrial food corporations and media corporations cooperate to influence government policy and individual choices regarding the food we eat every day – and how new, local movements are changing the way we think about food.   This course highlights both the wonders and horrors of food production, distribution, and marketing through a wide variety of sources, such as books, magazines, newspapers, research papers, films, music, guest speakers, individual research, and personal experience. Students will have ample opportunities to improve their English listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, and they will gain insight into American and world culture as it relates to food.
