Terry Pratchett once wrote, ““People think that stories are shaped by people. In fact, it’s the other way around.” In this course, students will increase their understanding of American cultural history and current popular culture by studying the significant trends and messages of its myths, legends, and folktales; learn about how America’s minorities have used storytelling for political and social advancement; (c) develop/apply analytical and linguistic skills for close listening, conversation and presentations; (d) improve their communication skills with native speakers of English.
